Homebrew Draconi Species Details

Born from the blood pact of the Dragon God Artemian, the Draconi (in the singular context Draconus) are known far and wide as THE Dragon Riders. Formidable warriors and capable spellcasters once heralded as glorious spectacles now they are more myth and legend. Their race was nearly wiped out during a great conflict that claimed many lives of Draconus and dragon alike.

Draconi are humanoid in build and appearance but generally are noticed by their flaming red-gold eyes; either ash white, charcoal-gray, or smoky-black hair; and slightly pale complexion. They are as nimble and dexterous as elves and some have a constitution that could rival a dwarf. They are naturally magical but tend to sway towards pyromancy (fire magic). Above all though they are skilled fighters and stalwart defenders of their companions. More so if they have reached the pinnacle of their lives and soul-bonded with a dragon.

Most of their traits are granted through the blood pact of the Dragon God Artemian, who offered its blood to them. It was an offer of peace between these people and Artemian's dragon followers who had been at war for centuries. The oath/pact bonded the people and dragons to a harmonic existence together. Since then dragons have been keen to uphold it, avoiding conflict with a Draconus if possible. Should a promising candidate for soul-bonding come forth, however, dragons tend to be wary of allowing such a thing as they're pride has grown since the Draconi downfall.
