Homebrew Annointed One Species Details
Bones of a once faithful person who has been deemed too important to pass on to the other side by the gods of their religion. They are compelled to always seek to promote the will of their gods in hopes that one day their gods may finally let them rest. Annointed Ones are very rare and powerful type of undead. They are often associated with good and are never associated with evil. They tend to constantly be at odds with other undead for this reason. Old wives tales say that if an Annointed One appears that means great change is on the horizon. This could be an omen for a good or ill.
Annointed One Traits
Wight of LightWights of Light
Annointed Ones are an inherently Good undead. Therefore their alignment may never be Evil. They are also restricted to the following classes: Paladin, Cleric, and Druid. Anything that would cause their alignment to become Evil by their own actions will result in abandonment by their gods resulting in final death.
Skeletal Vigor
Undead have an unnaturally extended life force. +2 to Constitution. Once per day if the undead would have their HP reduced to 0 it is not. Instead set it to 1. The undead may then make a Constitution save otherwise be stunned until the end of the round. Undead also have an unnatural amount of strength. +1 to Strength and carrying capacity increased by 20.
Undead Resistence
Being undead grants immunity to the effects of poison and being poisoned. It also grants immunity to disease as well as no longer needing to breathe, eat, or sleep. Ears having long rotted off grants immunity to deafening. No longer being warm blooded halves cold damage and being rotten grants immunity to necrotic damage. Undead may still rest and when doing so appear to be a lifeless corpse while still maintaining complete awareness.
Independent Body Parts
Being an animated bag of bones these undead can disassemble themselves. They can animate their disassembled parts individually from the host. This can range in anything from collapsing into a pile of bones to be unnoticed to removing their eyeball and tossing it in a wagon to do reconnaissance. Any critical failure on an attack roll will result in the corresponding limb falling off causing the attack to fail. The undead must then spend their following turn reattaching the body part.
Corpse Healing
Undead cannot be healed by healing magic or potions for they are not living creatures. Undead may only heal via inherent regeneration of 1 HP per hour or through the use of Vampiric Touch. Grants the use of Vampiric Touch as a cantrip to the undead. The Vampiric Touch may be used once per hour. Resting can increase the rate of regeneration of the undead from 1 HP per hour to 2 HP per hour of rest.
Bane of the Dead
Flames burn the unnaturally living thus all fire damage is doubled. Undead are naturally weak to the light so they also take double radiant damage. When hit with either of these types of damage the undead must make a Constitution save otherwise be stunned for one round. When hit with either of these types of damage the undead suffers a penalty of -1 Constitution for 1 hour and does not regenerate HP during this hour either.
Bony Anatomy
Skeletons have very bony anatomy. This means they take half damage from piercing but double bludgeoning damage. Being a skeleton means being light weight. Bones do not weigh a whole lot. The skeleton must make a Strength save any time a decent amount of force would be applied to them that would knock them down. This could be pushing them over this could be being hit with a boulder. Whenever the skeleton would attempt to consume food or drink it would fall through thier ribs and end up on the floor.
Blessed Bones
Annointed Ones are not normal undead. Brought to unlife by a deity they worshiped in life. Thier bones animate through the sheer power of their God's will. This means they are not treated as an undead when it comes to spells that would target or cause an undead harm. Things such as Turn Undead do not work on Annointed Ones. Annointed Ones also have a deep seated hatred for other undead and will always seek them out to destroy them.
