Homebrew Xolotl Species Details

The Xolotl are descendants of a town cursed by a hag to forever live in lush caves, although some do venture out into the open world. They appear as axolotl-human hybrids and never grow past 12 years old, except for a few.

Since they are axolotl-human hybrids, they can breathe underwater, see in the dark, and regenerate limbs. They can survive on land, but most prefer to stay in the water, as they cannot regenerate limbs and perform magic on land.

Creating your character

If you create a Xolotl character, follow these additional rules during character creation.

Xolotl Traits

You have the following racial traits.

The Three Paths

Instead of the normal ability score increases, you can choose from three ability score increases, +2 to charisma, +2 to wisdom, or +2 to strength.

Languages

You speak common, Merfolk, and a language of your choosing, as long as the DM thinks it is appropriate for your character.

Boring Stuff

You are a humanoid, your size is small and your walking speed is 30.

Darkvision

you can see in the dark for up to 30 feet.

Regeneration

You can heal for 5d4, as long as you are in the water. This costs a turn.
