Homebrew Chalin Species Details
The atmosphere in the tavern shifted immediately as he entered. Normally the tavern only goes silent when someone swings the doors wide open, but this time it was different. All it took was a simple shift in the door. I remember watching as one of my regulars looked over at the door and falling silent on sight. His very presence was intimidating. My gaze never left him as he slowly walked over to the bar counter. His kimono was white and orange, decorated with a floral pattern that twinkled in the lighting. The glaive strapped to his back was chipped and battered, yet it shined like no other. I will never forget the day the tavern fell that silent. -Sebastion Ryles, The Owner Of The GoldenBeard Tavern
Honor Constructed Culture
In a world where chaos is strong, the Chalin's grip on honor does not phase. The Chalin are known to treasure honor over all other attributes, including when it comes to a fight. Their culture leads them to often spare the enemy if they are deemed honorable with good intentions. Should someone show bad intentions or dishonor in a fight, they will not be spared. Due to their nature, most Chalins often become monks, paladins, and fighters.
Clans and Alliance
Most Chalin villages are run by a clan. These clans tend to create alliances with nearby villages/races. While there are natural guards for the villages, the clans act as elite guards and often the attacking force for any raids against other villages/clans. The clans are often the organizers for all alliances, war strategies, and any political issues.
A Solo Race
The Chalin prefer to live in solitude, mostly building their homes on hills and mountains, in forests, and near lakes. They normally tend to create their homes miles away from other villages, rarely even making their own villages. While most races tend to stick to a medieval building style, the Chalin tend to lean to a more traditional Japanese building style for their villages/homes. Rather than using their crop farms for food, they use it to take care of the wildlife that they would hunt later down the line. While they do not tend to consume any vegetables, they do tend to indulge in fruit from time to time.
Chalin Names
The Chalin tend to use names similar to that of dwarves and elves. Some Chalins prefer the harsh sounding names of a dwarf while others tend to use the smooth sounding names of an elf. If born into a clan, the Chalin will use names more related to the clans alliance.
