Homebrew Batty Species Details
Batty are a communal and well-natured type of fey. They have 3 pairs of movable ears that resemble bat ears, ergo their name. Their face and fingers have some peach fuzz but the rest of their body is covered in fur similar to a short-haired or long-haired cat. A common trait among all batty is that they do not like skin tight cloths as it itches with their fur.
Batty babies are uncommon and no one truly know where they come from. For the most part asking a Batty where they came from will result in them telling you where they last hibernated or joking about a terrifying crane mother, an inside joke about an old batty myth.
They mostly live on moors or in temperate forest in small (less than 100) groups, but they are not predisposed to be hostile to other races or kinds of lands. Batty tend to hold tightly onto the cultures they a few lives in.

Age and Re-Aging
Batty cannot die of old age and it is rare for more to be born. Batty instead go into hibernation every few decades, usually 7, for about a decade in which time they basically are reborn as a toddler with the same physical traits as their old selves. Things such as scars and physical disabilities outside of ones relate to aging remain after this process but may be lessened with each rebirth if the Batty remains in otherwise perfect health. Batty can be killed when they are hibernating, like any mortal being, but cannot become sick during the process. Outside of this major quirk, Batty age around the same rate as humans besides skipping the infant stage after each rebirth.

Batty range from under 5 to over 6 feet tall and have slender builds. Your size is Medium.

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Darkvision
Accustomed to twilit forests and the night sky, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

You have proficiency in the Perception skill when using your sense of hearing.
