Homebrew Wrangle Psion Species Details

Hailing from the frigid north, these dwarf-sized mammoths have been blessed with psionic abilities. These mammoths are greatly spiritual and tend to worship Selûne in their homeland (who they depict as an Astral Mammoth made of stars and constellations.)  Though they don't develop their psychic powers until they’re at least a year old, they are still able to communicate in the same ways that other elephants and mammoths can.

These mammoths are very social and tend to put family and companionship above all else, forming psychic bonds with those they hold dear to them. Sometimes these mammoths form bonds with members of other races and follow them on their travels or seek out civilization to join various religious groups. This can however, sometimes lead them into trouble as uneducated commoners might mistake them as simple beasts upon first meeting them.

Wrangle Psion Traits

This race's abilities center around both being the perfect sentient mount mixed with psionic abilities to allow for the most out of this mammoth of a player race.

Darkvision

You have 30 ft. of Darkvision

Keen Hearing/Smell

You have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell.

Cold Resistance

You have natural cold resistance due to your wooly coat.

Psionic Blessings

You have the Message and Mage Hand cantrips and can perform them at will and do not require their components to cast.

Mammoth Gut

You are able to eat and digest grasses, leaves, and other plant matter that humanoids normally would not be able to consume so long as it’s not poisonous. Although you are still able to eat normal food, you cannot digest meat. And take 1d4 poison damage for every pound of meat you consume. Up to 5 pounds of either bone or fish can still be eaten without this effect taking hold.

Great Tusks

Your tusks act as a natural weapon and deal 1d6+strength piercing or bludgeoning damage and count as your unarmed strike.

Great Trunk

You do not have arms, your trunk however acts as an arm and can do anything a single arm would normally be able to do.

When wielding a two-handed weapon, you can use the two handed property without needing both arms.

You cannot however use any non-thrown ranged weapons unless you are able to ignore the reloading properties of it (Bows, crossbows, firearms, etc.)

You are also able to perform any somatic components for spells with just your trunk, even if the somatic component says to use both hands/arms.

Lastly, if submerged underwater, you can raise your trunk up to 5 ft above your head in order to breathe.

Psionic Link

You may choose 1 allied sentient creature, when you and said creature are within 10 ft. of each other, you and the creature gain advantage on all attack rolls. You may change your target creature once per long rest.
