Homebrew Abolethborn Species Details

Abolethborn were a race created long ago by aboleths when the first land-based civilizations emerged, and aboleths needed a safe way to interact with beings outside the water. They have access to the racial memory of the aboleths who first made them, and likewise can pass down this knowledge genetically to their children. Some abolethborn still serve their masters, but in the eons since their creation, many have split off to find their own path.

Abolethborn were created with the primary goal of gathering knowledge to bring back to their masters, and they have not forgotten this -  most abolethborn continue this tradition, making your average abolethborn an avid learner. Their ability to recall knowledge makes them great at adapting to new situations.

Ability Score Increase

Your intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma scores each increase by 1.

Amphibious

You can breathe both air and water.

Long Racial History

Access to the racial memory of aboleths gives you automatic proficiency in History.

Recall Racial Memory

As an action, you may call upon your racial memory to become proficient in one skill of your choice. Alternatively, you may choose to:

• Understand one language of your choice
• Become proficient with martial weapons
• Become proficient with one type of tools (such as chef's tools or artisan's tools)
• Become proficient with one type of armour (e.g. light, heavy).

You lose this new proficiency after one hour. You may use this ability twice, after which you must complete a long rest before using this ability again.
