Homebrew Alopexi Species Details

Agile and Slender

With their furry body and piercing eyes, the Alopexi are a species that resemble lean humanoid foxes. While being only a head shorter than a grown human on average, some Alopexi grow even as tall to rival fierce Gnolls. Their size ranges from under 5 feet to a maximum of 7 feet. Generally, an Alopexi has a slender figure, but they can also be very muscular, which means that their size varies from 80 to 160 pounds. They have the ability to walk on two legs as well as run on all fours, which gives them very strong and agile legs to use for everyday work and to fulfil their desire to go on adventures. Their Fur ranges in colour from snowy white to red and brown, depending on season and region. An Alopexi can also often be seen with a distinct pattern stained in its fur, resembling family symbols or drawings of achieved goals and stories.

Playful but Deadly

Even though they are known for their playful nature and their tendency to tell stories, an Alopexi hunter is not to be underestimated. Their species has deep ties with the nature surrounding them allowing them to move through woodland or snowy tundra so fast and silently, that even ever-alert fey creatures sometimes only spot them when it's too late. Some people argue that the Alopexi originate from the fey wild and others say they are the result of some sort of mutated lycanthropy. Whatever may be true, the Alopexi as they stand today can be cunning and deadly hunters with the right training and mindset.

Alopexi Names

Some Alopexi change their name after every little achievement they accomplish others only change them upon completing their lifelong dream and some never change them at all. But their family name always sticks with an Alopexi, even if some grow to resent their family. An Alopexian family name always consists of an adjective that tells of their ancestor's adventures. Sometimes these names change if a member of the family manages to live an even greater tale than its previous hero.

Some examples of names could be: lucky, lightfooted, adorable, amusing, brave, brilliant, charming, creative, dazzling, diplomatic, elegant, expert, fabulous, faithful, gentle, gorgeous, helpful, hard-working, intelligent, and incredible.

Apart from their family name an Alopexi also bears a personal name, which is normally tied to an event, object or person that they have strong feelings for. Some Alopexi name themselves after their favourite food, some after their long-lost friend, some after their favoured prey and some after their biggest rival. This name generally changes a few times throughout their lifetime. Some examples could be: Apple, Peach, Hammer, Book, a human name, an elvish name, Rabbit, Raven, Sunset, Bonfire and Moon.
