Homebrew Darahar Species Details

Born of an ancient race of dragonkin which decended from wyverns long ago, Darahar are some of the oldest and rarest races in the known world. Generally being located in the Great Crater in N'maarah, Darahar are a secluded and cautious race, not trusting outsiders until they've proven themselves worthy of their trust.

Ancient Dragon Kin

Darahar, though being of draconic kinship, look more like disheveled husks compared to their distant Dragonborn cousins. They have wings and a long tail with a stinger on the end, granted to them by their wyvern ancestors. They are generally shorter than Dragonborn and strongly built, often standing close to 5½ feet tall and weighing 250 pounds or more. Their hands and feet are strong, talonlike claws with three fingers and a thumb on each hand.

Due to the fact of their blood being so intertwined and messy due to doing anything to keep their race alive, Darahar normally have either deep crimson, dark grey, or jet black scales, though there can be the ever rare albino Darahar with stark white scales.

Self-Sufficient Clan

To any Darahar, the clan is more important than life itself. Darahar owe their devotion and respect to their clan and gods above all else. Each Darahar’s conduct reflects on the honor of his or her clan, and bringing dishonor to the clan can result in expulsion and exile. Each Darahar knows his or her station and duties within the clan, and honor demands maintaining the bounds of that position.

A drive to survive in a harsh environment and through hardships is what the Darahar live by, knowing not which meal will be their last. A Darahar holds mastery of a particular skill as a lifetime goal. Members of other races who share the same commitment find it easy to earn the respect of a Darahar.

Though all Darahar strive to be self-sufficient, they recognize that help is sometimes needed in difficult situations. But the best source for such help is the clan, and when a clan needs help, it turns to another Darahar clan before seeking aid from other races.
