Homebrew Dinaurian Species Details

Inspired by the Dinaurians from Fossil Fighters.

"The Dinaurians, quite the strange folk if I do say so myself! Despite coming from an entirely different planet, they still evolved from the ancient dinosaurs that we know once inhabited our world and evolved to be quite similar in our humanoid shape and biology. According to them, their home planet was eaten by an Astral Dreadnaught known as Guhnash. I do hope we here on Earth never arrive at the same terrible fate."

Looking for a New Home Planet

The Dinaurians are a highly intelligent species who have long evolved from the ancient dinosaurs to assume a humanoid form. Not much is known about this species, as their home planet was destroyed long ago. Fortunately, their technology has advanced enough to allow extended space travel, and they tend to stay in their spacecrafts, scouting for a new suitable planet to call home. One should feel honored if they meet a Dinaurian who sees their planet as a suitable home.

Reptilian Appearance

Though they tend to disguise themselves in order blend with different planetary inhabitants, a non- disguised Dinaurian can be identified by their lizard-like tails, reptilian eyes, Elf-like ears, dark triangular markings under the eyes, vibrant hair of varying colors, and skin colors that range from different shades of green and blue. Though, if one were to see a Dinaurian without their disguise, it is usually only because they allowed you to see them.

Dinaurian Names

Dinaurian names tend to be a play on words of Common words for dinosaurs.

Examples: Duna, Raptin, Dynal, Tyran, Don, Para, etc.

As a Dinaurian, you gain the following traits

Dinaurian Transformation

While Dinaurians may have long evolved past their dinosaur ancestors, occasionally they can tap into their primal roots and unleash their hidden power, giving them a Dinosaur-like appearance. This effect lasts for 1 minute and recharges on a long rest.

At 5th level, you gain the ability to transform into a dinosaur, giving you the following benefits:

• Your creature type changes to Beast.
• Any equipment that is currently being worn reshapes to fit your new form.
• Your movement speed increases to 50 feet.
• You are unable to cast spells while in this form, but you can still benefit from class features.
• You gain an unarmored defense equal to 10 + your Dexterity/Strength modifier, whichever is higher + your Intelligence modifier.
• You gain a Claw attack that, when you hit, deals a number of d8 of slashing damage equal to half your level (rounded down), plus your Strength or Dexterity modifier.
• You gain a Bite attack that, when you hit, deals a number of d6 of piercing damage equal to half your level (rounded down), plus your Strength or Dexterity modifier, and the target is considered grappled.
