Homebrew Carpathian (Space) Species Details
Carpathians are typically 6-8 feet tall. They have 4 large eyes, the two outer eyes are smaller than the central ones, with a snub nose with slit-like nostrils, and a nearly lipless mouth. Strong jaw, average to small ears, typically quite muscular due to their planet's gravity being 1.5 times that of earth. Their skin is soft purple and leathery. They have 4 arms and 2 legs and very expressive long thin tails (similar to that of a hairless cat tail), with bipedal ambulation. The females are larger than the males and lay eggs in clutches. The hatchlings are very competitive with each other and only the strongest survive. Reproduction is not a romantic affair, with the larger females simply grabbing a male by the tail and taking the required DNA, though males find it quite an honor to have their tails pulled. Once eggs hatch, they are placed into strong family groups regardless of genetics. Matriarchal society where family groups are run by the grandmothers. There are various rankings within family groups that can change throughout a member's lifetime, such as Tala (highest ranking short of grandmother), Qala (below Tala), Xala, and Muk (lowest ranking). Over the 400 year lifespan of a Carpathian, most members progress upward based on accumulated wisdom, though loss of rank can also occur. Adulthood is reached around 75 human years. Carpathians are known for being shrewd and competitive traders who guard their secrets well. They are often feared by other races due to their sheer size, and they are very protective of their own family groups. Family groups are known for different trades--information, goods, etc. All Carpathians will consider information payment if they deem the information worthy. They are also known for insulting each other, which is often seen as a compliment, whereas complimenting another is seen as insulting and that one considers the other to be beneath them. Members of the Galactic Empire.
