Homebrew Canid Species Details

A magically gifted race with vulpine features. They live to 450 years, gaining a new foxtail every 50 years. Often a sign of maturity and status. Their societies are often reclusive and studying magic in the Glowood Forests.

Size

Canid range from under 4 feet tall over 5 and have fluffy or humanoid builds. Your size is Small or Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 35 feet.

Darkvision

Accustomed to twilit forests and the night sky, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Warp Trick

When you use Misty Step, you leave behind an illusion of yourself to trick enemies. Anyone who wants to discern the illusion must make an Insight check equal to your spell DC to discern illusion from real. The illusion lasts until the start of your next turn.

Arcane Trickster

When you reach 1st level, you can cast the Disguise Self spell once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the Misty Step spell once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest.  When you reach 6th level, you can cast the Blur spell once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Elvish. Elvish is fluid, with subtle intonations and intricate grammar. Elven literature is rich and varied, and their songs and poems are famous among other races. Many bards learn their language so they can add Elvish ballads to their repertoires.

Empowered Kitsune

As an action, you draw power from your magical tails to empower your spells. On your next turn, when you use a spell, targets have Disadvantage on the saving throw. This feature can be used a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per day, requiring a long rest to perform again afterwards.
