Homebrew Awakened Dog Species Details

An Awakened Dog looks just like any other Dog you'd see, the only thing that sets them apart from other Dogs is the unusual amount of intelligence in their eyes, their ability to communicate in humanoid speech and see color. They will still be restricted by their unique physiology and will need to find ways to overcome many obstacles that the humanoid races handle with ease due to their damnable opposable thumbs.

Awakened Dog Traits

Awakened Dogs share many of the advantages that their normal cousins have.

Ability Score Increase

Your Charisma and Constitution increase by 2.

Age

Awakened Dogs mature at the same rate as regular dogs and live twice as long, up to 30 years.

Size

Awakened Dogs are the same size as normal dogs depending on their breed. Your size is either small or medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 40.

Hunter

You have proficiency in Survival and Perception. 

Natural Attacks

You're able to bite for 1d4 + Str piercing damage. Grr.

Pack Tactics

You have advantage on an attack roll against a creature if at least one of your allies is within 5 feet of the creature and the ally isn’t incapacitated.

Languages

You can speak and read common. You can't write, you're a dog. Arf.
