Homebrew Bound Soul Species Details

The bound souls are mysterious, being that very few of them tend to ever exist. Bound souls are typically people, or creatures, who have died, but their souls cling to life via a physical item. Usually these are suits of armor or weaponry. This bondage of soul to item, allows for the recently deceased to cling to life, not moving towards the great beyond.
Bound souls do not usually have a physical form, their physicality comes from the suit of armor that they posses. They are, however, able to interact with others and objects just as normal, they just do not posses a physical body of any kind. Without a helmet the only noticeable feature is their "head" which is only a small cloud of ever moving black smoke with two glowing dots as eyes. The color being any of your choice.

Bound Soul Traits

A bound soul's racial traits:

Darkvision

Being that a bound soul no longer has physical eyes, they are no longer impeded by the nuisance of darkness and can see relatively easily in dark areas. The glow of their eyes also emits a very dim light, matching the color of their eyes, that is shed by only 5 feet total.

Ability Score Increase

No physical body allows for a bound soul to be more durable than many other people or creatures. No muscles, bones, or any other things also allow for them to be extremely quick and agile, making them both great fighters and thieves.

Languages

A bound soul, retains all knowledge of language from their previous life being able to speak, write, and read fluently in all of their languages, as well as being able to learn one more post-mortem.

Walking Speed

As a bound soul you aren't weight down by a mortal body, or armor, anymore. Heavy armor will not affect movement speed and you seem to move just a bit faster than normal people on a regular basis.

Stealthy

Not only are you quicker than others, your lack of a physical form allows you to be stealthier than the regular person, granting you a proficiency in the stealth skill

Battle Speed

Being exceptionally good in hand to hand combat, and their naturally faster movement abilities, a bound soul is able to either disengage, or dodge as a bonus action once per turn.

Immunities

Bound soul's, having no body or blood to infect, seem to be entirely immune to all damage and effects of poison. You also feel no need to eat or drink being that you have no organs. The lack of a physical body means you do not get tired and will not ever become exhausted and do not feel the need to sleep.
