Homebrew Anisopteron Species Details

As Dragonflies grew alongside humanoid races the evolved to be like them. They grew taller and longer, they started to build homes, markets, clothes and weapons. This race was came to known as Anisopteron. They live along rivers and freshwater ponds as well as swamps sometimes. They are humanoid like but keep the look of a dragon fly. Depending on what they're doing they can be Quadrupedal or Bipedal, but they are usually Quadrupedal. Their natural rivels to the Mosquitonites. The leaders of town and villages of this race are pick by how long and big they are, and they are called Emperor's. With this race the small Anisopteron are known as Dragonflies and the larger size is known as Griffinflies. Humanoids don't care for this race and sometimes hunt them out of their homes.

A plural of Anisopterons would be referred to as an Anisopteronae.

Anisopteron Traits

The Anisopteronae are made unique by their diverse appearances and cultures, but they all share these inherent traits.

Ability Score Increase

Your Dexterity score increases by 2, and your Wisdom score increases by 1.

Age

Anisopteron mature around the age of 6 and can live to around 130 years. As the smaller Anisopteron grow, halfway through they can choose to evolve into the bigger Anisopteron. 

Size

3 feet for the smaller Anisopteron and 5-6 feet for the bigger Anisopteron 

Speed

Anisopteronae have a speed of 0, but can stand stationary on solid surfaces. However, they possess a fly speed of 40 ft., and can hover.

Fast Analyzer

Anisopteronae perceives visual information much slower than it occurs but processes it much faster. You have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) and Intelligence (Investigation) checks based on sight.

Chitinous Armor

The Anisopteron have a hard-bodied exoskeleton, granting them additional protection against threats. You gain a +1 to your Armor Class.

Arial Ambusher

Whenever you would provoke an attack of opportunity from flying out of a hostile creature's reach, so long as you have attacked that creature on the same turn, they make the opportunity attack at disadvantage.

Ferocious Jaws

The Anisopteron's jaws are considered a natural weapon, and deal 1d4 + your Strength modifier on a hit.

Language

You can speak, read, and write Common and Sylven. Sylven is their primary language, no one knows why they speak this language. there is some theory that the Anisopteron might of leaked out of the feywild.
