Homebrew Bren Species Details

The bren are a unnatural race, a monstrous mix between a chicken and a boar, created by a demon to serve centuries as slaves. They rampaged villages and towns, raiding them and leaving no survivors. But after a while, they got bored, and their master started to lose its hold on them. Compelled by the greed and rage infused in them, they banded together and killed their master. When the demon was slain, the bren lived on, wandering aimlessly in search for a more powerful, more deserving master, but did not acheive their goal. As time passed, they started to act normally, as a creature of natural origin would act. They started to reproduce, form organized groups with their own hierarchies and cultures. Over time, their creation became less and less important, more of a myth, a fable. While they maintained their greedy and evil nature, continuing to raid and pillage other civilizations, the magic in them slowly faded, and they became completely independant with no desire for a master.

Bren Traits

Your bren character has certain traits in common with all other bren.

Gore

Your tusks are natural weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with them, you deal piercing damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.

Frightening Charge

When you move 20 feet towards a creature and hit them with a gore attack, they take an extra 1d4 bludgeoning damage. All creatures within 10 feet of you who can see you must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw equal to 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier or be Frightened for the next round. Creatures who succeed on this saving throw are immune to this effect for the next 24 hours.

Terrifying Presence

Thanks to your monstrous appearance, you are naturally gifted in the way of scaring others. You have proficiency in the Intimidation skill.

Ability Score Increase

Your Strength score increases by 2 and your Charisma score increases by 1.

Age

Hatching from eggs, bren reach maturity at the age of five months and can live to be up to nine years old. They remain physically able throughout their entire lives.

Chicken Wings

One of the traits inherited from their chicken side, the bren have small, flightless wings. By flapping these wings, you can add 1d4 -1 feet to a long jump, or 1d4 -3 to a high jump. (Any total under 0 does not take effect.) You also have advantage on Strength saving throws against being knocked prone.

Powerful Build

You count as one size larger when determining the weight you can push, lift, and drag.
