Homebrew Amynta ( Masked elves ) Species Details

With their unearthly grace and fine features, Amyntas appear hauntingly beautiful to humans and members of many other races. They are slightly taller than humans on average, ranging from 6 feet tall to just over 7 feet, making them taller than most other elven races . They are more slender than humans, weighing only 100 to 145 pounds. Males and females are about the same height, and males are only marginally heavier than females. Both have a long tail like that of a lions regardless of sex, rarely it can be possible for Amynta to have horns or antlers, though this is most common in royalty.

Amyntas’ coloration encompasses hues and shades of blue and also includes skin in shades of black, and almost bluish-white, hair of black or blue and even white, and eyes like pools of stars or flame. Elves have no facial and little body hair. They favor masks over jewelry, and stealthy yet comfortable clothes of dark colors. Each mask worn by the Amyntas has a different design and meaning, this helps them identify another and there ranks. The lowest being called 'Elgr' or 'Elk', those in this rank are considered apprentices or scouts, there duty is to spy and train to sure of their progress in higher ranks and their loyalty to their kingdom. The second being 'Niten' or 'Beast', those in this rank are considered warriors or protectors, There duty is to protect the people of there village. The highest rank being 'Vargr' or 'Wolf', Those in this rank are mostly assassins or royals, there duty is to ensure wisdom and protection to the other beings of this world.

Amyntas can live well over 700 years, giving them a broad perspective on events that might trouble the shorter-lived races more deeply. They are more often calm than excited, and more likely to be curious than greedy. They tend to remain aloof and unfazed by petty happenstance. When pursuing a goal, however, whether adventuring on a mission or learning a new skill or art, Amyntas can be focused and relentless. They are slow to make friends and enemies, and even slower to forget them. They reply to petty insults with disdain and to serious insults with vengeance.

Like the branches of a young tree, amyntas are flexible in the face of danger. They trust in diplomacy and compromise to resolve differences before they escalate to violence. They have been known to retreat from intrusions into the surrounding shadows, disappearing into nothingness, confident that they can simply wait the invaders out. But when the need arises, Amyntas reveal a stern martial side, demonstrating skill with sword, bow, strategy, and stealth.

Most Amyntas dwell in small forest villages hidden among the trees, though a castle does exist to them it is rather used for studies and gatherings. Amyntas hunt game, gather food, and grow vegetables, and their skill and magic allow them to support themselves without the need for clearing and plowing land. They are talented artisans, crafting finely worked clothes and art objects. Their contact with outsiders is usually limited, though will sometimes allow themselves to be seen for splint seconds or communicating through whispers or sign language. 

Amyntas take up adventuring out of wanderlust. Since they are so long-lived, they can enjoy centuries of exploration and discovery. They dislike the pace of human society, which is regimented from day to day but constantly changing over decades, so they find careers that let them travel freely and set their own pace. Amyntas also enjoy exercising their martial prowess or gaining greater magical power, and adventuring allows them to do so. Some might join with rebels fighting against oppression before returning to the safety of the shadows, Amyntas are all assigned to a duty, weather it be warrior or teacher, the Amyntas all have a connection to the outside world, most of them assigned to a race not there own to protect from danger and lead on the right path. 

Amyntas are considered children until they declare themselves adults, some time after the hundredth birthday, and before this period they are called by child names.

On declaring adulthood, an Amynta selects an adult name, although those who knew him or her as a youngster might continue to use the child name. Each Amyntas adult name is a unique creation, though it might reflect the names of respected individuals or other family members. Little distinction exists between male names and female names; the groupings here reflect only general tendencies. In addition, every Amynta bears a family name, typically a combination of other Elvish words.
