Homebrew Anemon Species Details

Anemons are small, simple creatures that ride on the winds. They are supremely adapted for their life in the sky, though not so much adapted for adventuring.

Seedy Form

Anemons have a rather plant-like nature: They have four leafy wings like those of a maple seed, and two broad feathery parasols which catch the wind like a dandelion. Their body is surrounded by an airy shell, with a slim seed-like interior and a small spiny head. They lack legs, which prevents them from walking on the earth, and their arms appear as slender stalks that grow from the body.

Their colours are usually in the realm of green, but colours like gold, red, or yellowed are not uncommon, especially in autumn.

Wind Rider

Anemons live and die by the wind. Currents of air are the only means of propulsion availible to this people, and they make the most of it.

Their reliance on outside forces pushes them towards a passive lifestyle: They like to spend their lives floating through the sky, waiting for the bad to pass rather than trying to fix things. This is far from universal, however, and many individuals turn their intellect to harnessing and sometimes even controlling the wind to their own ends. These individuals are adored wherever they end up, often rising up the ranks to become either a benevolent leader or a cruel despot.

If you are caught in an explosion or other damaging area of effect, you can move horizontally similarly to being in the wind. Your speed while grounded is half of the area of effect's size, and you must move away from the area's point of orgin. You stop moving if you exit the area. Your speed while in the air or prone is equal to the area's size, and you must move in a straight line away from the point of origin. You do not stop moving if you exit the area.
