Homebrew calmelinax Species Details

camouflaged: 

similar to changelings, the calmelinax has natural camouflaging capabilities. however unlike the changelings who have the ability to change their body and features to look like another race, the camelinax can only change their color or blend so seamlessly into their environment they appear invisible to the naked eye. identifying features such as patterns and the color of their hair can not be changed naturally, but do turn transparent when invisible, and glow dimly in the dark both a natural  bioluminescence. 

sticky fingers:

as a society that evolved in the mountainous jungle areas of the world, the calmelinax can scale sheer surfaces much like the spell spider climb. they use this ability to protect themselves from land dwellers, building their homes and cities high in the trees and edges of cliffs. you have a climbing speed of 30.

 

float:

despite living largely in trees and mountains, camelinax have the ability to float roughly 5 feet. this is achieved due to a mixture of hollow bones and a pocket within their chest that when filled with air acts as a sort of buoyancy ability in the air and water. their AC is lower due to the nature of their bones, but the activation of this pouch when falling is enough to slow the fall to a gently glide. you may not be able to achieve full flight with this ability on its own, but when mixed with a preposition system (either magical or mechanical) a type of rudimentary flight is achievable. you will have to consistently dive to build up momentum if you wish to achieve flight, but gliding from heights and a few feet above the ground is remarkably easy.

 

swimming:

on the flip side, the pouch that enables flight also grants one other boon, the calmelinax can choose to hold air within the pouch when under water, allowing for a person to remain underwater for a much longer time. the average calmelinax is able to hold their breath for up to an hour or two before they must resurface.

Ability Score Increase

Your Dexterity score increases by 2. In addition, one other ability score of your choice increases by 1.

Age

Camelinax mature slower than humans, with roughly triple their life span. the average Camelinax will live to be roughly 600 to 700 years old

Alignment

Camelinax are a good aligned people, believing that the community must care for each other and that a government exists to provide safety and comfort for its people. however, the Camelinax also have a more extreme sense of justice than most other races, meaning that while they tend to fall on the good side of the spectrum, it's most common for them to fall under the chaotic good category when compared to other races

Size

Your size is Medium. To set your height and weight randomly, start with rolling a size modifier:

Size modifier = 2d4

Height = 5 feet + 1 inch + your size modifier in inches

Weight in pounds = 115 + (2d4 × your size modifier)

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

your swimming speed is 15

you can float 5 feet off the ground, and glide when jumping from a greater Hight

your climb speed is 30

Shifting

As an action, you can turn invisible. as a bonus action you can change your color. You determine the specifics of the changes, or can choose simply to blend so seamlessly into your environment that you become invisible to the naked eye.

in the new form until you use an action to revert to your true form or until you die.

the invisibility grants you advantage on stealth checks (3+dex), and others disadvantage on perception or investigation checks in regards to your whereabouts(3-wis/int). invisibility has no effect on true sight.

changing colors when attempting stealth gives you advantage against people searching for you(1+dex), however it is not as effective as turning invisible.

You gain proficiency with two of the following skills of your choice: Deception, Stealth, Acrobatics, and Athletics.

You can speak, read, and write Common, Galnex and one other language of your choice.
