Homebrew Dhampir Species Details

A dhampir is a creature that is the result of a union between a vampire and a humanoid, or the descendent of such a union. Dhampirs are usually very shapely and comely, with their beauty often compared to that of royalty. Easily a force of personality in any room, they manifest a charm not unlike their vampire progenitors as they mature. This makes them an unpredictable presence to friend and foe alike.

Dhampir Traits

Physical Description

While they seem more or less humanoid, and share the skin tone and much of the appearance of their parents, their skin often has an inhuman sheen and unhealthy pallor that sets others on edge. At birth they resemble stillborns with a very faint heartbeat. Most even possess sharpened teeth or vestigial claws, reminders of their heritage. Graceful, but not as powerful as their vampire forebear, a dhampir trades immortality for the gifts of sunlight and humanoid feeding habits.

History

Being the offspring or descendent of a vampire and a humanoid, dhampirs are usually the children of a tragic romance... or something much more sinister. This causes them to seek out their reason for being created, or in some cases join or hunt their immortal parent or ancestor for answers

Society

Dhampirs normally live a solitary lifestyle. Often feared, shunned, and even hunted by other races, a great number of dhampirs outright reject their vampiric heritage. Few, if any, can even stand the presence of a vampire, though others, driven and stubborn, may turn their talents to hunting them down. Some dhampirs however embrace their heritage, working to help and protect their immortal brethren. Whether out of loyalty or a hope for true vampirism, or something known only to the dhampir, they make for excellent day guards or followers for vampires.
