Homebrew Aripi Species Details

History

The Aripi are an ancient race of celestials who willingly sacrificed their power to become mortals who can act as a guiding light in the night sky. After a few hundred thousand years, the Aripi forgot their original intention, and now act as a normal society that live on sky islands or steep ravines.

Age

Although Aripi are no longer celestials they still reach unfathombly long life spans, they reach physical maturity at about 20, their understanding of adulthood goes a little beyond physical growth to encompass worldly experience. An Aripi typically claims adulthood around the ages of 100-200 and can live to be around 800 to 1,000 years old.

Size

Aripi are a tall race of people with large wings, ranging from 6 to 7 feet tall. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Soulvision

Thanks to your heritage, you have superior vision in the dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in both magical and nonmagical darkness as if it were dim light.

Hellish Resistance

You have resistance to fire damage.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write in Common, Celestial, and one other language of your choice.

Wings

Your lower pair of wings allows you to prevent yourself from falling by going into a glide.

You can use a reaction to glide to prevent fall damage with a descent speed of 60 feet.

At 5th level, when you finally sprout your upper wings you gain a flying speed of 50 feet as you use both pairs of wings for higher speeds. If you choose to only use your upper pair of wings for flight, then your flying speed it reduced to 30 feet.

 

Guiding Light

When you reach 3rd level, you can cause your wings to flare up with a gentle starlight glow. As an action, you can generate dim light out to a range of 30 feet for 10 minutes, you can choose to end this effect as a bonus action. Once you use this feature, you can't do so again until you finish a short or long rest.
