Homebrew Awakened Cheetah Species Details
Awakened Cheetahs are not very common, even if simply for the fact that Cheetahs themselves aren’t entirely a regular occurrence to come across due to their natural wariness when raised away from humanoid civilizations.
In the case of Awakened Cheetahs, they are often given their sentience from one of three circumstances:
A) The cheetah was exposed to a form of magical sediment or material, which affected their intellectual cognition.
B) The cheetah was discovered by a Druid or other spellcaster, which cast Awaken upon them in the hopes of the cheetah becoming their willing Familiar.
C) An unexpected psionic intervention by either evolutionary changes or a deity, which are both not impossible but still probable.
Awakened Cheetah Traits
As an Awakened Cheetah, you have the following traits.Creature Type/Size
Your creature type is Beast. Your size is either Small or Medium, chosen when you create your character.
Claws/Fangs
Your claws and fangs operate as natural weapons, which you are proficient in. When you make a melee attack, you may use your claws/fangs in place of regular unarmed, using Dexterity instead of Strength as your modifier. The damage for your claws are 1d8+Dex Slashing, and your fangs are 1d6+Dex Piercing.
When you attack with your Fangs, you may attempt to grapple the target as a bonus action if the target is of Medium size or smaller.
Agile Nature
Similar to the more evolved humanoid Tabaxi, you are capable of moving twice your movement speed on your turn. If you do so, then you cannot do so again until you spend a turn using zero movement.
Likewise, as a cheetah you have advantage on Acrobatics checks used to combat against becoming grappled.
Ability Score
As a cheetah, your Dexterity score increases by +2, and your Wisdom score increases by 1.
Heightened Senses
You have Darkvision, and you have advantage on Perception checks that rely on Scent or Hearing.
Awakened Features
Due to being Awakened, your Animal Form has the following additions:
-You can understand Common.
-You are capable of telepathically communicating with any creature that you can see.
-You know the Mage Hand cantrip innately.
-You may attempt to telekinetically shove a creature that you can see with in 30 feet of you. If you succeed the check, you may push it up to 10 ft away from you, or knock the creature prone at your DM’s discretion.
