Homebrew Cambion Species Details

“Your eyes gave you away, my friend.”

Those glimmering crystal eyes, slitted like those of a cat, peered back at him. A predatory smile curled across the girl's lips.

“And what is it, pray tell, you intend to do with that information?” she queried.

“Frankly,” he began. “I'm just awestruck that I had the chance to meet one of your kind. I'd be most interested to learn a thing or two.”

“That's a dangerous request," she replied. "What if I lose control again? I could rip you apart."

"Dear girl, I'd love to see you try."

The cambions of the cosmos are among the rarest individuals in existence. Scholars have long believed them extinct, though this is far from the truth. Among the wisest alchemists, a Cambion's blood is revered as one of the most desirable components.

Mark of the Abyss

Cambions are the result of the union between a demon and a humanoid. While they primarily appear to be human, they have a number of physical characteristics that set them apart. Their canine teeth are sharply pointed, and their eyes are luminescent colors—blue, green, purple, silver, or amber—with slitted pupils that resemble those of a feline or reptile. Their skin tones cover the full range of human coloration, though they tend toward paler complexions. Their hair is often a strange, vibrant color - purple, green, blue, white, or pink - though it also falls within typical human hair colors.

Distrustful Wanderers

Cambions are incredibly rare, and their dark origins tend to lead them to a life of travel and seclusion. Their fiendish origin leads them to be wild and often carefree, though it sometimes leaves them with a disregard for the moral values of most cultures.

as they have no one place of origin, cambions know that they have to make their own way in the world and that they have to be strong to survive. They are not quick to trust anyone who claims to be a friend, but when a cambion’s companions demonstrate that they trust him or her, the cambion often learns to extend the same trust to them. And once a cambion gives someone loyalty, the cambion is a firm friend or ally for life.

Cambion Names

Cambions names tend to reflect the culture of the mortal parent that raised them. For instance, a cambion raised by humans will likely have a human name, while a cambion raised by elves often has an elvish name. Due to this variability, cambions can have a wide variety of names.

Male Cambion Names: Arno, Dominic, Galaar, Jasper, Sindry, Varys

Female Cambion Names: Atahla, Maebh, Suuri, Naja, Serene, Sonja

Sought After

Because of their rarity, mages and alchemists highly value cambions and will often seek them out to serve their various purposes. Demons will also seek out cambions to force them into servitude, even if the cambion was sired by a different demon. Taking on another demon's offspring as a slave is seen as one of the highest forms of disrespect in the Abyss.

You also have a number of deficiencies due to your nature:

  • You are unable to eat normal food, and must rely on magically created food such as Goodberry or soy-based foods.
  • You gain 1 point of exhaustion for each day you spend in the Nine Hells or Celestia or any other divine plane. This exhaustion cannot be removed until you leave that plane.
  • You are unable to sleep normally. You require 4 hours of rest and 2 hours of light activity to gain the benefits of a long rest. You are conscious and aware during this rest.
