Homebrew Wild Walkers Species Details
Up until very recently the Wild Walkers had lived exclusively in the forests and had attuned to it's power in many ways. They can draw on it's energy to empower their attacks, they can craft it into buildings and tools, and they can trade souls with wild animals for periods of time in an act called the Sharing. This practice sadly almost destroyed their people as many sought out fiercer and more vicious animals for an even greater rush of power and adrenaline, they shared more and more often causing them to burst into fits of animalistic rage or loose themselves to it and wander into the forest never to be seen again. Fearing extinction many were forced to leave the forests behind, but the magic that binds them to it still runs strongly through their bodies.
Slender and Graceful
Wildwalkers have very think bodies which allow them to move with a dexterity and grace that would require large amounts of training for other races. Besides this their bodies are almost the same as humans only lacking of variety in their skin tone since Wild Walkers always fair. The one major difference are their long and prominent ears. They are sit at the top of their heads and look like long slightly curled strips that hang all the way down their backs. Other then that the difference that isn't often seen by most is how Wild Walkers die, when they do their body sprouts large bright foliage which doesn't leave enough to recognise the body except through magic or animal instinct. No one know why or how this happens but the prevailing theory is that it is a side effect of their constant interaction with the forest.
The Wild Walkers all have the ability to craft plants and stones into buildings which always have a colour scheme of bright white and green, called Shaping this creates striking image on the horizon. This theme caries over into their fashion as very few Wild Walkers have a colour other then green as the main component of their outfit. What decoration they have often follows patterns of furs, leaves, flowers, and other fauna and flora.
Walk Amongst Grass or Trees
The Wild Walkers are unique in that a strong division runs through their species, and yet every one of them agrees on one thing: The Forest must be respected, protected, and cherished. The division comes from how these tenants are carried out. On one side are the Plains Striders who believe that the future of their society exists on the grasslands amongst other cultures, the other are the Forest Walkers who say that Wild Walkers should stick to their roots and remain in the woods. These parties clash on many issues such as integration of other races, building designs, public holidays and more.
But the crux of the argument is the Sharing. Plains Striders would love to leave that part of their history behind calling it dangerous and selfish as giving into it could endanger others, in extreme cases banishing anyone caught Sharing who isn't a trained Shaman and even then there are laws against when and how Shamans can share. Forest Walkers instead embrace the Sharing not only for it's cultural significance but the power it gives which gives the Wild Walkers an advantage over other empires. This does lead to them down playing and hiding damage caused by the Sharing and ostracising and degrading those afraid to share or unable to share with many animals. From the outside neither are without fault or flaw and the solution sits in the middle where both sides refuse to go. On everything else Wild Walkers can vary enormously but these beliefs and disagreements are something no Wild Walker can escape from.
