Homebrew Basic Dwarf Species Details

You are a child of an ancient Dwarven Line. While all dwarves of your holdt can trace their lineage back to heroes, generals, and craftsmen great; the greatest of them all was the last King Under the Mountain, Kharngrim Knurl'kra; greatest of his royal line. Kharngrim gave his life that his people might escape the mass of twisting tunnels and flee to the safety of the surface from the brawing goblin hordes that fell upon your ancestors, a place that is now only known through story and song and more ominously simply called the 'Darklands' to you, the surviving scions of that once great Clanholdt.

But while Kharngrim's sacrifice allowed your ancestors to reach the safety of the surface-lands, they found little welcome or aide there from the other so-called 'friends' who once proclaimed themselves allies to your people. Since fleeing, your people have become little more than a husk of their former selves; seperated and broken by circumstance as your once great clan has been diminished to little more than lesser servants or mercenaries within the lands of Elves, Men, and even your Sister Dwarven Holdts.

All remember the sacrifice of Kharngrim, and speak of the ancient heirloom treasures, lost technologies, and secrets now buried far beneath the surface in the Great Lost Thaig. And though it is considered a foolish venture that has been tried before by other aspiring seekers, it is said that any Dwarven clan who can re-claim the Lost Thaig of Kharngrim will prove themself the Dwarven King's successor; and usher back in a new Golden Age that all dwarves will once more prosper in these lands. Perhaps where the others have failed, you will finally succeed...

Basic Dwarf Traits

Your dwarf character is basic AF.

Dwarven Sturdiness

All armor (Light, Medium, and Heavy) weighs 0' carry capacity for your character.

Age

Dwarves mature at the same rate as humans, but they’re considered young until they reach the age of 50. On average, they live about 350 years.

Size

Dwarves stand between 4 and 5 feet tall and average about 150 pounds. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 25 feet. Your speed is not reduced by wearing heavy armor.

Darkvision

Accustomed to life underground, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Dwarven Resilience

You have advantage on saving throws against poison, and you have resistance against poison damage (explained in the “Combat” section).

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Dwarvish. Dwarvish is full of hard consonants and guttural sounds, and those characteristics spill over into whatever other language a dwarf might speak.
