Homebrew Antherion Species Details

 Antherion are a distinct race consisting of a humanoid/animal hybrid.  Little is truly known of their origins, but rumour has it that they are the product of Feral Lycanthrope and Wolf Interactions. Although they're not completely humanoid, they have adapted to speak the Common tongue and can communicate with people in this manner. 

Jaws and Fur

When prone, Antherion look much like large Wolves. Only when they stand up in a bipedal stance does their humanoid appearance become apparent. On average, Antherion are of a similar size to humans ranging between 5 feet to 6 feet tall. Males and females are about the same in height, however males are marginally heavier and stronger than females. Their long, narrow legs and large, webbed feet can help them navigate through difficult terrain.

The thick fur that covers the entirety of their bodies, keeps them warm in colder climates (Cold Resistance). Males are usually dull in colour, with fur of greys and black. While Females have more bright colours, usually being red/brown, tan or white. Their heads complete the canine appearance, with large pointy ears and a muzzle filled with rows of teeth.

An Antherions eye colour varies in shades, from solid yellow to black, with dark circular pupils in the centre. They cannot discern colours, only shades of grey and can see in darkness (Darkvision).

(Antherion can weight anywhere between 90 to160 pounds.)

Social Territories

Most Antherion dwell in small caves in the forests and tundra's, living in packs of six to eight individuals. Like their ancestors, each pack has its own social structure with the alpha pair being at the top. Howling, their most distinctive feature, enables them to communicate with pack members over long distances and to warn others of their territorial boundaries. 

They are talented Hunters, often chasing their prey over long distances, sometime even miles. Antherion encountered outside their own lands are commonly traveling Bounty Hunters, Mercenaries, or Exiles.

Pack Mentality

Antherion, as a pack, make a deadly efficient social unit. Like their ancestors, they will typically circle around their target and will work together to deliver a coordinated attack. Their hunting skills and intelligence make for an excellent combat tactic, utilizing their Speed and Wisdom to exploit weakness.

Female Names: Achlys, Bacia, Jela, Keket, Nephthys.

Your Strength score increases by 2 and your Constitution Score increases by 1.

Antherion reach physical maturity at about the same age as humans.

Natural Survivor

Your ancestry has given you a natural resistance to colder condition. When making a melee attack have the ability to use your claws and teeth as natural weapons with proficiency. 

Size

Antherion range from 5 to 6 feet tall and have a medium build. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet. This increases to 40 feet when prone.

Darkvision

Accustomed to dark caves and the forest, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. 

Keen Senses

You have proficiency in the Perception and Survival skill.
