Homebrew Byconos Descendant Species Details

Distant descendants of the feared Byconos Hive. These spores find their way into the wombs of expecting females. There they gestate alongside the babe and create a symbiotic bond. The chance of a successful bonding is less than 1%, and upon failure the spore dies and the babe is left undisturbed. During this bonding process the will of the spore and the mind of the babe become one and the same from each other. A Byconos child is indistinguishable from a regular child. It is only on the cusp of adulthood that the traits of a true Byconos Descendant become manifest. Unlike its predecessor these beings are not connected to the Hive. Therefore they are as diverse ans the many races of the world. They simply want to be.

A little Bit of Everything and More

As a symbiotic being they take on the traits of their host race. They integrate perfectly with their host society. Their physical characteristicas a child are unchanged from their host race. Upon the cusp of adulthood though their skin molts and a thick porous fungal bark takes its places. The head or "cap" is often plated in a durable exoskeleton. Though this trait can vary. These traits are accessory to the traits of their host race. This means their height, weight, skin tone, and many of their other features are dictated by their host race.

Social Grace

Just as with their physical traits, their temperament is dictated by the traits and features of their host race. But the Byconos have evolved an instinct for social tact in order to better fit into regular society. As a result they excel most in the public eye. The Byconos have long lifespans, as they develop they molt their outer layer and a new skin takes the olds place, their bodies are rejuvenated. Many Byconos are immortal and thus there comes a time in their lives where they may choose to place roots (quite literally). This is a celebrated event. The Byconos takes on a new function in life, nourishing the earth and spreading a new generation of spores.

An uncommon race, the Byconos Descendants are both revered and despised. Many remember the old wars, when the Byconos Hive threatened to blanket the world. Old hatred carried over from this tumultuous past occasionally surfaces. But many Byconos are sought after for their dedication towards the development of society.

Humans vary widely in height and build, from barely 5 feet to well over 6 feet tall. Regardless of your position in that range, your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and one extra language of your choice. Humans typically learn the languages of other peoples they deal with, including obscure dialects. They are fond of sprinkling their speech with words borrowed from other tongues: Orc curses, Elvish musical expressions, Dwarvish military phrases, and so on.
