Homebrew Wendigo Species Details
The wendigo may appear as a monster with some characteristics of a human or as a spirit who has possessed a human being and made them become monstrous. It is historically associated with murder, insatiable greed, and the cultural taboos against such behaviors.
Wendigo Traits
Due to the wendigo's curse growing, their detachment from humans grows; allowing them supernatural instincts and abilities.Ability Score Increase
Your Dexterity score increases by 2.
Supernatural Jump
Your running long jump distance is doubled.
Night Stalkers
Nature helps hide you from the prying eyes of humans encroaching on nature. You can attempt to hide even when you are only lightly obscured by foliage, heavy rain, falling snow, mist, or another natural phenomenon.
Wendigo's Claws
The wendigo's curse extends your fingers into wiry claws that can tear and shred flesh like knives. You have natural weapons that deal 1d4+your Strength modifier in slashing damage.
Darkvision
Accustomed to the forests, mountains, and caves; your eyes have become accustomed to seeing in the dark. You can see in dim light within 60 ft. as if you were in bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light.
Dawn Wendigo
Wendigos in which have adapted to snow-filled environments.
Ability Score Increase
Your Constitution score increases by 1.
Movement Vision
You can see movement within 30 feet of you. If you sense movement in this way, it is a brightly colored flashing; its intensity differing based on the size of the movement. The effect can penetrate most barriers but is blocked by 1 foot of stone, 1 inch of Common metal, a thin sheet of lead, or 3 feet of wood or dirt. You can only use this ability once per long rest.
Mystery Cloak
The mystery behind your being shrouds you in a protective veil from physical attacks. Your AC is 15+Dexterity modifier.
Garden Wendigo
A beast made of shrubbery and plantlife that haunts the woods, stalking its prey through the dense forests.
Ability Score Increase
Your Intelligence score increases by 1.
Magecraft of the Woodland's Beast
The woods have blessed you with the uncanny power to control both it and its inhabitants. You can cast Entangle and Charm Person once per long rest each. Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for these spells.
Harvester of the Adlewood
As one who has conquered the forest, you have been granted the power to fuel yourself by use of Adlewood. When you reduce an enemy to 0 hp, you can spend 10 minutes doing nothing but focusing on the corpse to turn it into Adlewood. You can then consume the Adlewood and heal 1d10 hp.
Native Wendigo
A beast of the plains that embodies ferocious and cannibalistic instinct.
Ability Score Increase
Your Charisma score increases by 1.
Speaker of the Nature Spirits
The world channels its voice through you. You can use telepathy to speak to any creature within 120 feet telepathically. The voice will appear to come from another source, for example, the wind, a river, or a desk fan. The receiver of these messages cannot communicate back to you, nor can they determine who you are or where you are. The creature is not required to understand your language as long as they can speak a language.
Terror of the Night
Your affinity to the night has caused you to warp into something beyond comprehension. You can coax your bloodlust out in a manner to cause intense fear in your enemies. You can force any one enemy you're in combat with to make a Wisdom saving throw (DC: 10+Charisma modifier). On a failed save, they are frightened of you for the duration of combat. You can only use this ability once per long rest.
Slend Wendigo
A tall, thin nocturnal creature with a wiry body that unfurls out in a disturbing manner.
Ability Score Increase
Your Strength score increases by 1.
Stalking
As a bonus action, you can make a survival check (DC= Opposing CR/Level + 10) on one creature you can see within 10 feet of you. Until the end of your next long rest, you can track this creature flawlessly and have advantage on any Stealth checks made to hide from this creature.
Cannibalistic Tendency
You gain the ability to devour human prey, harnessing their power for a short time. If you reduce a humanoid enemy to 0 hit points, you can enter a temporary bloodlust that bossts your power significantly. You gain a +1 to damage rolls for every humanoid enemy reduced to 0 hit points, as well as temporary hit points equal to your Proficiency Bonus. These effects last until the end of the round.
