Homebrew Specter Species Details

    Specters are ghosts who have for one reason or another remained, even after their unfinished business is complete. These ghosts have severed many of their ties with the land of the dead and are free to pursue their goals in the wide world. As a result of this specters are semi-corporeal beings allowing the to interact with the world around them while still being capable of flight. However, this has its downsides as it also makes them susceptible to physical attacks

    Society is often unaccepting of specters viewing them as undead horrors to be banished and destroyed. This can make it difficult for specters to reconnect with people they knew in life or to form new friendships. Many specters become adventurers as a way to gain acceptance in society and adjust to the multitude of changes that may have occurred in the world since their death. Some even work to put fellow undead to rest.

Specter Traits

Your undead heritage manifests in a variety of ways.

Creature Type.

You are undead.

Flight

 You have a flying speed equal to your walking speed and can hover. You can't use this flying speed if you're wearing medium or heavy armor.

Undead Resilience

You have resistance to necrotic damage and vulnerability to radiant damage.

Magic from the Grave

 You know the mage hand cantrip. When you cast it you can make the spectral hand invisible. Starting at 3rd level, you can cast the silent image spell with this trait. Starting at 5th level, you can also cast the blink spell with this trait. Once you cast silent image or blink with this trait, you can't cast that spell with it again until you finish a long rest. You can also cast either of those spells using any spell slots you have of the appropriate level

Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells when you cast them with this trait (choose when you select this race).
