Homebrew Chaond Species Details

In many ways, chaonds are strange creatures. They are planetouched beings, much like tieflings and aasimar. However, while tieflings are born from the essence of the pure evil of the Lower Planes and aasimar from the goodness of the Upper Planes, chaonds are different. They are born with the essence of pure chaos from the plane of Limbo.

There are many ways a chaond can be conceived, naturally varying due to the pure chaos in their nature. Occasionally, a slaad might couple with a humanoid based on their passing whims. Also, an attack from a red slaad has a chance to traditionally impregnate their victims as opposed to implanting a tadpole as normal. In some cases someone traveling on Limbo might simply find themselves pregnant randomly with no knowledge of how it happened. Each of these circumstances are exceedingly rare.

A chaond possesses some toad-like features, giving them a slight resemblance to their slaad relatives. Their mouths tend to be very wide and their hair is usually quite thin. Many chaonds have discolored patches on their skin that often drift across their bodies. Their build and coloration vary a great deal.

Chaonds often feel their chaotic nature, but this is not an all-consuming urge. Some of them give in to their passing whims, becoming truly chaotic creatures. Just as many, however, ignore them completely, treating them as nothing more than a reminder of the place they came from.
