Homebrew Adrose Species Details

Introduction

Introducing the Adrose: a unique and mysterious race of mer-human hybrids, living peacefully in the world of Nienna. The Adrose have both human and fish-like features – they possess webbed hands, gills, and fins which give them an unmistakable appearance. They are often seen with bright colours such as blues, greens, pinks, and purples.

Aside from their physical appearance, the Adrose are known for their intelligence and capabilities of learning as well as how to cure the other races of many ailments. They also have an affinity for magic, which gives them great power and many use it to protect their communities. However, because of their hybrid nature, the Adrose remain with a longing for both land and sea, due to their lungs and gills.

Attitudes and Philosophies

The Adrose is a mostly peaceful race that prefers to stay away from conflict. They live by the mantra of “live and let live” which guides their interactions with other races. The Adrose also follow a code of ethics when it comes to helping others; they believe in healing those who need it, whether it be physical or mental ailments.

That being said, the Adrose do have a desire for power or domination, as many other races do. If they conquer an area they focus on living in harmony with their new subjects, though they remain the superior race. They can be known for helping others without expecting anything in return. This leads them to be seen as wise and kind-hearted by many of the other races, and are sometimes welcomed as conquering heroes.

Culture

The culture of the Adrose is heavily rooted in the idea of living in connection with both land and sea. They live a simple life, yet slavery abounds with them focusing on connecting with the ultimate thing of beauty since they think their path towards self-discovery requires them to collect everything of beauty including the best slaves. They also use magic and their knowledge to mentally control these slaves who are usually the best-looking things on the planet.

Other Story Notes:

The Adrose is a very protective race. They are not afraid to fight and defend their home, but they prefer peace and will always seek to find a very businesslike solution, which is sometimes shady before resorting to violence. They also have an appreciation for art, music, and storytelling as part of their culture. They believe in the strength of family ties, including those between those whose slaves marry into their culture to produce better offspring.

The Adrose is a unique race and one that is often misunderstood by the other races of Nienna. Despite this, they continue to live harmoniously with others and use their intelligence and magic for good. Their ability to adapt, learn, and heal makes them invaluable assets in any community. A culture worth learning about, the Adrose is a complex and fascinating race.

Names

The Adrose way of names has to do with their Mer origins. They use the Mer tradition of taking their parents' names and merging them together, creating a unique name for each individual. The Adrose also have nicknames that they call one another. These can be anything from funny names to words used to describe characteristics or qualities the person has. Examples include "Yhanna," "Tink," and "Coral Heart." So, if a parent's name is Athe and the mother is Erea, the child can have a unique name such as "Athea" or even more unique like "Erthe." Certain letters might be used to signify important things in their lives. For example, "Tha-the" could mean that the person is a great lover of music. Each Adrose's name is unique and special to them, tying into their Mer roots.
