Homebrew Avian Species Details
Exemplars of Ambition
Avians who seek adventure are the most daring and ambitious members of a daring and ambitious race. They seek to earn glory in the eyes of their fellows by amassing power, wealth, and fame.
Long before the world fell to ruin, there lived a people known as the Alatimus. The Alatimus were once the pinnacle of scientific advancement-- Being almost completely isolated, they were free to spend their days focusing on building the collective knowledge of their people instead of needing to worry about things like war or conflict. Their society prioritised intellect above all else. For many years, they stood at the top of the world's knowledge, but wound up nearly completely wiped out by plague long before the rest of the world collapsed.
They are naturally long-lived, and appear mostly as regular humans save for their pointed ears, oddly colored eyes, and-- of course-- massive wings on their backs. Where their wings were once surgically grafted onto them, they found a way to genetically alter themselves to make them naturally grown. The color of the wings is seemingly random, and has little importance. Their wings are generally narrow when fully out-stretched, and mostly designed for soaring as opposed to high-speed or precision flight. They were introduced into the genome for the sake of maximizing travel efficiency.
