Homebrew Anthropetra Species Details

Anthropetras are a rare, humanoid bat creature. They have excellent vision due to their 12 eyes (6 on face, 6 on wings), and can fly for short distances (around 100 metres). They glide from place to place and catch insects and small birds in the air. Young Anthropetras (below 5 human years) cannot fly, and all Anthropetras struggle to swim. They have the average height and speed of a halfling. On average they live for 40 - 50 years. Although they commonly make their homes in dark caves on mountainsides, Athropetras are not stealthy. Their eyes are somewhat of a handicap, as they glow in the dark, and their wings extend the full length of their body. They have a natural affinity with magic, especially illusion magic, and are known to hypnotise the unwary who wander too far into their lairs.

Anthropetras live in homes made out of rock and clay that they mould into caves. They are simple living, and persist on a diet of insects, poultry and fruit. They have a unique religion and feel a deep connection to their nine deities, who are the makeup of everything that is. Since they are such a rare race, many will never encounter another Athropetra group in their entire lives. This isn't too much of a problem, as they reproduce asexually. This also means that they all have no gender.
