Homebrew Axolmar Species Details
Day 35 of my explorations deep in the caverns: I have encountered a most curious creature, one that I have never seen before in all my travels. The Axolmar, they call themselves, with their slender bodies, long tails, and frilly gills that emit a soft glow in the darkness. They move with such grace and agility, both on land and in the water, that I am in awe of their physical prowess.
At first, the Axolmar regarded me with cautious curiosity, their gills pulsing with light as they assessed my presence. But over time, they grew more comfortable with my presence, and we began to communicate telepathically, sharing simple ideas and concepts.
What truly amazed me, however, was the Axolmar's regenerative ability. I saw them lose a limb in a scuffle with a pack of vicious goblins, only to have it grow back in a matter of days. Such resilience and strength is truly remarkable.
As I continued to explore the caverns, the Axolmar proved to be a valuable ally and friend. We faced many dangers and challenges together, and I came to appreciate their peaceful nature and unique abilities. I will miss them dearly when I must leave this place and continue on my journey, but I take solace in the knowledge that our paths may cross again someday.

Axolmar have long, slender tails that help propel them through the water, and their webbed hands and feet are tipped with small, sharp claws.
Axolmar are most famous for their incredible regenerative abilities. When injured, they can regrow severed limbs and digits over the course of a few days, making them nearly invulnerable in combat. Their aquatic nature also gives them a distinct advantage, with the ability to breathe both air and water and swim at incredible speeds of up to 50 feet per round.
Despite their fearsome abilities, Axolmar are generally peaceful creatures. They tend to live in small, close-knit communities in the shallow waters of rivers and lakes, where they subsist on a diet of insects, small fish, and plants. Axolmar have their own language, which is a series of clicks, chirps, and whistles, but they are also capable of speaking Common and Aquan.
Overall, Axolmar make for unique and intriguing characters in any D&D campaign, with their regenerative abilities, underwater prowess, and distinct appearance.
