Homebrew Xyris Species Details

Xyris

The small Xyris wove in and out of the crowd, often ducking around market stalls or briefly leaping up onto a roof. They stood still for a second before smiling and running up to a tall elf. The elf pointed to a tavern at the end of the road and the Xyris carried on down the brick road until they came to the door. The Xyris entered and beamed around the tavern, laughing with old friends and chatting. Finally, the sun began to set and the street became dark. The cosy lights of the tavern shone out, illuminating the ivy that grew nearby.

 Social and Enthusiastic

With their kind hearts and sociable nature they are often well-liked in towns and villages. They are very helpful and enthusiastic when faced with a challenge. Xyris do not do well when they do not have the company of others and dislike being alone. When alone they often become a little depressed and sad, which over time can cause larger problems.

Small and Dexterous

Xyris are extremely fast and agile due to their feline origins. They are often known to be bards or other kinds of entertainers because their agility can mean they can pull off many tricks that make it an easy way of making money for these cat-like species. Although their agility brings many good things it means they are much smaller than a normal human. Their small frames mean they are not very strong and have trouble lifting weapons such as large axes or hammers.

Cat Ancestry

While a Xyris’s cat heritage comes with good things such as speed, agility and dexterity, having cat ancestry means Xyris hate water and have difficulty swimming which gives them a disadvantage when trying to do things that are related to water. Some less physical traits such as their subtle mischief, humour and occasional moody days all come from their cat heritage. They don't get offended very easily and see the best in others.

Clans and Tribes

Xyris have specified groups that can be called tribes or clans. The first clan is Sorna. Sorna mainly live in warmer territories and have shorter fur on their paws and lighter coloured hair and fur. The next clan is Alvain. They live in cold yet temperate areas and have darker hair and fur, with slightly thicker fur on their paws and tails. After that is Norix. They live in the farther north regions where snow falls thick on the ground. They have silvery and white fur with long, thick fur. Taern is the final clan, they live in temperate yet warm areas and often live in pine or redwood forests. Their fur and hair are often colours such as different shades of brown, dark ginger and orange.
