Homebrew Dracotaur Species Details
Dracotaur, a creature with the torso of a Dragonborn and the legs of a Dragon, a rare sight within the world. It is said that they have this appearance due to Dragonborn long ago offering their blood to Dragons of old. This then caused the blood of some of their offspring to be mixed with the blood of a Dragon and a Dragonborn. However, due to their blood being mixed, it can cause some adverse effects. There could be an imbalance between the two blood types, sometimes causing the mind to differ. Dracotaur that have a balance favoring Dragon blood tend to go feral. The reasoning is believed to be the fact that a Dracotaur brain leans towards that of a Dragonborn. Since they aren't full Dragons, the increase of Dragon blood will overpower any rational thought and cause them to lose themselves. Most call it "Wyrmblood Decay" and it has caused many to fear Dracotaur. Even other Dracotaur fear them, as they will lose recognition of their own kind. Not all Dracotaur succumb to this fate however. Those born with their blood balanced or in favor of Dragonborn blood will not fall into decay. They will retain a sense of self. The only difference, however, is that the more Dragonborn blood one has, the shorter their lifespan since they have a lesser connection to that of a Dragon. Dracotaur that have a balanced blood or more Dragonborn blood tend to live traveling the world or try to find a city or town that will accept them. This helps repair some of the bad reputation of Dracotaur in the world. In this age, only some Dracotaur are still born from Dragons, however, most now descend from that of a Dracotaur parent.
