Homebrew Wendigo Species Details

While Wendigo have been around for a very long time it wasn't until some what recently some started to break traditions and decided to fit in with human civilization. They gained the ability to shape shift and blend in. Of course some wendigo still follow their own traditions of being very territorial creatures attacking anyone who foolishly wanders their land, but they are still a rarity enough to still be considered tall tale 

Wendigo Traits

Wendigo roam the land especially forests and never in groups, however few Wendigo have broken the mold and have deiced to blend into human society for whatever reason don't mind traveling a long side others

Shape Shifter

In order to fit in to society you've gained the ability to shape shift in between your natural wendigo form and one other form of your choosing. This form can not be freely altered once decided. Changing from your natural form into your second form does not change ability score increases, resistances, speed, traits or languages 

Ability score increases

Your dexterity score increases by 2, and your charisma score increases by 1

Age

Wendigo grow quickly reaching about the size an adult at the age of 5 and are fully grown at the age of 10, they mature at the same rate as humans being fully mature in their late teens and live about 400 years 

Size

Wendigo are quite tall in their base form standing taller then most anywhere between 7-8 feet tall, but because they are mostly bone they are quite light for their size usually 150-180 lbs, your size is medium

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet

DarkVision

Accustomed to living in the outdoors and dark places you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Deathly resistance

You have resistance to necrotic damage 

Natural attack

You can only use this natural attack when in your natural wendigo form, you can use your claws as an unarmed strike which you are considered proficient in. you deal 1d4 slashing damage plus additional necrotic damage equal to your proficiency modifier

Disruptive presence

You can only use this ability in your natural wendigo form, as a bonus action you can instill fear into the heart of your enemy. a creature that you can see must succeed a DC 8+ proficiency + charisma modifier wisdom saving throw or be frightened of you for one minute. they can attempt to save again at the end of their turn. you cannot use the ability again until you complete a long rest

Familiarity

Your very aware of those akin to you, whenever you meet a fellow cryptid your able to snuff them out even if they are shape shifted, you can tell by a distinct smell of rotting which other races cannot smell however animals can.

Languages

Your able to speak read and write Common and Abyssal 

Undead

Your creature type is undead rather than humanoid
