Homebrew Arcanian Species Details

Arcanians are nomadic creatures, mostly oblivious to the history, nature of people, and social constructs of the world. Arcanians begin to manifest when powerful magic meets droves of souls, beginning their formation over time. After a year, the culminating magic and soul energy forms a young Arcanian. Arcanians are shadowy figures, and must conceal all parts of themselves other than their face, which is simply 2 glowing pearl-like lights for eyes due to their volatile nature. Once an Arcanian finds suitable clothes or armor, it cannot take it off, as it is soulbound. It can however, as a long rest activity, swap armor/clothes.

Arcanian Traits

You gain the following features while playing an Arcanian, both good and bad.

Oblivious

Arcanians, due to their reclusive, hermitlike nature near the start of their lives, are never taught social norms, history, and the nature of people- be it good or bad. This does not restrict them to any alignment.

Phantasmal Origins

The souls of which you came from grant their affinities in their lives, granting +1 to a pair of stats and granting advantage as a bonus action for saves of that pair of stats. You also get mage hand as a cantrip.

Arcanian Linguistics

Choose one language that make sense that you would speak. Maybe, as a hermit, you learned  "speak with plants" permanently as a language. Maybe you learned infernal to live alongside the demons who unintentionally formed you. Maybe you grew up as an acolyte, and learned celestial in the temple. Whatever makes most sense for your background.

Soulbound Wardrobe

Arcanians need covering to not simply flow out back into incorporeal matter, and thus need a covering. If you drop to zero hitpoints, your concealments are shattered, and you along with it. If your concealments are not repaired, you cannot get up from a prone position if you successfully roll death saves or are revived in any manner.
