Homebrew True Dragonborn Species Details
Born of dragons, as their name proclaims, the true dragonborn are rarely seen, hiding the shadows of classic dragonborn. The offspring of true dragons and sometimes draconic gods, true dragonborn hatched from dragon eggs, after they were touched by magic, a spell, known only to the three dragon gods, Asgorath, Bahamut, and Tiamat. True dragonborn are oftentimes faithful servants to their respectful gods. They serve either the evil Chromatic, the good Metallic, or the middle ground, Gem.
Proud Dragon Kin
True dragonborn look very much like dragons standing erect in humanoid form, and like them and unlike classic dragonborn, they have both a tail and wings. The first true dragonborn, only three, were born to the dragons gods themselves, Asgorath, Bahamut and Tiamat. These three are worshipped alongside the dragons gods, as dragonborn gods, by all the true dragonborn that came after them. They are not mentioned themselves, by these dragonborn, preferring to keep secret, the reason most think true dragonborn worship only dragons. True dragonborn come in whatever color dragon egg they hatched from. They stand at 7 feet tall, half a foot taller than classic dragonborn, and weigh only about 250 pounds. They have talon-like hands and feet, their tails are about one and a half times longer than their bodies, and their wings can reach a span of up to 20 feet.
Self-Sufficient Clans
To any dragonborn, including true dragonborn, the clan is more important than life itself. Dragonborn owe their devotion and respect to their clan above all else, even the gods. Each dragonborn’s conduct reflects on the honor of his or her clan, and bringing dishonor to the clan can result in expulsion and exile. Each dragonborn knows his or her station and duties within the clan, and honor demands maintaining the bounds of that position.
A continual drive for self-improvement reflects the self-sufficiency of the race as a whole. Dragonborn value skill and excellence in all endeavors. They hate to fail, and they push themselves to extreme efforts before they give up on something. A dragonborn holds mastery of a particular skill as a lifetime goal. Members of other races who share the same commitment find it easy to earn the respect of a dragonborn.
Though all dragonborn strive to be self-sufficient, they recognize that help is sometimes needed in difficult situations. But the best source for such help is the clan, and when a clan needs help, it turns to another dragonborn clan before seeking aid from other races—or even from the gods.

The DC for this saving throw equals 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus. A creature takes 2d8 damage on a failed save, and half as much damage on a successful one. The damage increases to 3d8 at 6th level, 4d8 at 11th level, and 5d8 at 16th level.
