Homebrew Afflicted Dragonborn Species Details
Plagued by the curse of vampirism, Afflicted Dragonborn are torn between the realms of Life and Death, but belong to neither. A draconic Dhampir, if you will.
In most ways, Afflicted Dragonborn are similar to their fully alive counterparts, but the affliction pales their skin and scales and turns their eyes blood-red.
The true changes come in the form of their draconic abilities. Their connection to death and negative energies alters the nature of their draconic heritage, including resistance to negative energies and a breath weapon that draws on them, increased mobility, and the ability to see in dark spaces.
An Afflicted's form of hunger may vary depending on their original heritage. An Emerald Dragonborn turned Afflicted may have a craving for the mental energy of intelligent creatures. An Afflicted White Dragonborn may desire cold raw meat. Ignoring their hunger, or being in situations that prevent them from feeding for extended periods of time could result in increasingly desperate attempts to satiate that hunger. In addition, the typical eccentricities associated with their draconic nature may intensify under these circumstances, namely their pride and greed. Under the strain of increasing hunger, a former Red Dragonborn may find their collection of valuable objects being mixed with random assortments of items of lesser worth. Brass Dragonborn, after sating their hunger, may find the confused ramblings of a drunkard mixed in with their comedy material.
