Homebrew Aasimar/Tiefling Species Details
Extra-dimensional Heritage
Few ever encounter a creature such as you. Perhaps your family engaged in pacts with both celestial and fiendish entities. Perhaps it was a curse or a test by extra-dimensional powers. Perhaps one parent was an Aasimar and the other was a Tiefling. Either way, you are a humanoid with both celestial and fiendish heritage.
Aasimar/Tieflings resemble their parents, but they live for up to 160 years and often have features that hint at their extra-dimensional heritage. These often begin subtle and become more obvious when they gain the ability to reveal their full nature. Chose any combination of Aasimar or Tiefling traits. Examples: half-and-half split, devil's horns and golden eyes, red skin with a tail and a glowing halo, one demonic arm and one deva arm, etc.
Ability Score Increases
When determining your character’s ability scores, increase one score by 2 and increase a different score by 1, or increase three different scores by 1. Follow this rule regardless of the method you use to determine the scores, such as rolling or point buy. The “Quick Build” section for your character’s class offers suggestions on which scores to increase. You can follow those suggestions or ignore them, but you can’t raise any of your scores above 20.
Aasimar/Tiefling Traits
As an aasimar/tiefling, you have the following racial traits.Creature Type
You are a Humanoid.
Size
You are Medium sized.
Speed
Your walking speed is 30 feet.
Extra-dimensional Resistance
You have resistance to necrotic damage and radiant damage.
Darkvision
You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light and in darkness as if it were dim light. You discern colors in that darkness only as shades of gray.
Healing Hands
As an action, you can touch a creature and roll a number of d4s equal to half your proficiency bonus, rounded down. The creature regains a number of hit points equal to the total rolled. Once you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
Extra-dimensional Influence
You know the Mage Hand cantrip. The cantrip does not require a verbal component, and the hand is invisible when you cast the cantrip with this trait.
When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the Command spell. When you reach 5th level, you can cast the Detect Thoughts spell with no material components. You can cast each spell once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. You can also cast either of those spells using any spell slots you have of the appropriate level.
Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells.
Extra-dimensional Presence
When you reach 3rd level, you can use a bonus action to unleash the Extra-dimensional energy within yourself. Your transformation lasts for 1 minute or until you end it as a bonus action. Once you transform, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest:
Ghostly, flightless wings sprout from your back temporarily. Creatures other than your allies within 10 feet of you that can see you must succeed on a Charisma saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier) or become frightened of you until the end of your next turn. Until the transformation ends, once on each of your turns, you can deal extra necrotic and radiant damage to one target when you deal damage to it with an attack or a spell. The extra damage of each type equals half your proficiency bonus, rounded down.
