Homebrew Axolot Species Details
Axolots are aquatic salamanders that stand on two legs. Axolots have nimble, transparent limbs and a slightly transparent tummy. Axolots have a wide mouth and thin eyes, along with feathery gills on the side of their head (usually pink). The axolot's tail is anywhere from 1-4 feet long and stretches out to the ground.
Axolot Traits
Axolots can breathe underwater and on land, can regenerate lost limbs, and have more speed swimming that on landAmhpibious
Axolots are amphibious and can breathe in freshwater (not saltwater) and on land. If an axolot were to try and breathe in salt water, the axolot takes 1d4 poison damage every minute submerged. Axolots do no require water to breathe, as they can breathe in both just fine.
Regeneration
If an Axolot were to get a body part severed, the Axolot would be able to grow back that limb. Axolots can only regenerate arms, legs, their tail and gills. If an axolot if decapitated, the axolot can now regenerate their head. The axolot can regenerate certain organs including parts of their brain, but not all parts. Everyday an axolot wakes up while having a severed part, they roll a 1d20 constitution check (DC 12). If the check is succeeded, they go up a stage. If the check is failed, nothing happens. There are 10 stages to regeneration. Once stage 10 is reached, the part is fully regrown.
