Homebrew Statuefolk Species Details
Brought to life by the Arcane Meteor Storms on the moon Nevoa and its remaining Arcane pockets, Statuefolk are known for their lack of Devascars and tough exterior. Statuefolk are naturally imbued and familiar with the arcane energy which courses them to life and must learn to protect it to continue their newfound lives.
Statuefolk Traits
Your statuefolk character has the following traits. A few of the traits give you a choice; consider how your choice reflects the design for which your character was carved.Ability Score Increase
Your Constitution score increases by 1, your Charisma score increases by 1, and one ability score of your choice increases by 1.
Age
A typical statuefolk is between one and 1200 years old. The maximum statuefolk lifespan remains a mystery; so far, statuefolk have shown few signs of deterioration directly due to age. You are immune to magical aging effects.
Alignment
Most statuefolk were born from chaos, tending toward chaos and neutrality. But some have absorbed the morality, or lack thereof, of the beings with which they have found themselves coexisting.
Size
You choose your size when you create your character.
Speed
Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Chiseled Resilience
You were created to have remarkable fortitude, represented by the following benefits:
- You have advantage on saving throws against being poisoned, and you have resistance to poison damage.
- You don’t need to eat, drink, or breathe.
- You are immune to disease.
- You don’t need to sleep.
Statue’s Pose
When you take a long rest, you must spend at least six hours in an inactive, motionless state, rather than sleeping. In this state, you appear inert, but it doesn’t render you unconscious. While in this state, you have disadvantage on checks made to detect your surroundings.
Tough Exterior
Your body has built-in defensive layers, which can be enhanced with armor. You gain a stacking +1 Bonus to your Armor Class.
Unique Design
You gain two skill proficiencies.
Languages
You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language of your choice.
Magically Imbued
By the means of your creation, you know one cantrip from the sorcerer spell list, and when you cast it you use Constitution as your spellcasting ability.
Chips and Cracks
Statues wear their wounds much differently than flesh creatures. Whenever you are taken down to 0 hp, choose a die between 1d4 and 1d8. Then roll a d20. On a 5 or lower, you subtract your chosen die from your Death Saving Throws. On a 15 or higher, you add your chosen die to your Death Saving Throws. On a Natural 20, you continue to roll death saving throws as normal, and you can only fail saving throws when you roll a 1 on the d20. Otherwise, roll Death Saving Throws per Rules as Written.
