Homebrew Drow Dragon Species Details

Drow-Dragon had the abilities of a drow and of a half-dragon of shadow dragon patronage. They had the good natural dexterity of normal drow, but their dragon blood erased the drow's physical frailty. It also made them significantly stronger, and enhanced their already keen intellect and charisma.

Being drow elves gave them good resistance against magic that affected their will and against enchantment in general, protection against spells and an immunity to sleep magic. Their dragon side provided them with an outright immunity against being paralyzed and draining of energy and a thick hide to protect against physical attacks. They had claws and a bite usable in combat.

Like any other drow, they had darkvision, but also gained low-light vision. They could create dancing lightsfaerie fire, and darkness each once a day.

Furthermore, they had the ability to breathe out a cone of shadows that would weaken overall any foes caught in the area. They could do this once a day.

A distinctive feature of Drow-Dragon was a pair of wings on their back that allowed them to fly faster than they could move on land. Normally, only half-dragons of species larger than drow could have wings.

A Drow-Dragon had a predisposition for the roguish arts, with natural skill in intimidation, as well as an elf's normal keen senses.

Skill Proficiencies

Fey Ancestry

You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep.

Drow Magic

You know the dancing lights cantrip. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the faerie fire spell once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. When you reach 5th level, you can cast the darkness spell once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells.

Elvish Language

You speak either Elvish or Undercommon.

Breath Weapon

You can use your action to exhale destructive energy. The attack deals Necrotic damage in a 15ft. cone. When you use your breath weapon, each creature in the area of the exhalation must make a saving throw. The DC for this saving throw equals 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus. A creature takes 2d6 damage on a failed save, and half as much damage on a successful one. The damage increases to 3d6 at 6th level, 4d6 at 11th level, and 5d6 at 16th level. After you use your breath weapon, you can’t use it again until you complete a short or long rest.

Ability Score Increase

Your Strength score increases by 2, your dexterity score increases by 2 and your Charisma score increases by 1.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Draconic. Draconic is thought to be one of the oldest languages and is often used in the study of magic. The language sounds harsh to most other creatures and includes numerous hard consonants and sibilants.

Age

Young Drow Dragons grow quickly, they walk hours after hatching, attain the size and development of a 10-year-old human child by the age of 3 and reach adulthood at 15. They live to be around 200 years old.

Size

Drow Dragons are taller and heavier than humans, standing well over 6 feet tall and averaging almost 250 pounds. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Superior Darkvision

Your darkvision has a radius of 120 feet.

Trance

You don’t need to sleep. Instead, you meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. (The Common word for such meditation is “trance.”) While meditating, you can dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.
