Homebrew Walking Hive Species Details
Once living humanoids, these people underwent horrific experimentation, bringing them to a state of near-death, their bodies maintained and sustained only by a swarm of insects using their body as a hive. The experiments in question were to merge a person's consciousness with that of another creature, beginning with insects.
Many of these experiments failed. Even the successful ones effectively died, their consciousness overtaken by the creatures they were merged with; of these the main successes being Ants, Bees and Locusts. While not actually dead, they are completely under the influence of the queen insect, jabbing their brain and controlling their bodies.
You can infect any humanoid, thus using their outward appearance to move around in society. This husk can understand languages it knew in life, but cannot speak. You can however write and make hand signals.
While generally neutral, their intentions in this world are usually based around the survival and spreading of their brood, making this a priority above anything.
The body is, in essence, a vessel to transport the hive around.
You are this hive.
Walking Hive Traits

You can read and write Common and two extra languages. Being unable to control the vocal chords of the host, you cannot speak by normal means.
Age
Walking Hives can live an indefinite amount of time; as long as some of the brood survive, your consciousness will be preserved. However, your host deteriorate over time, and you will eventually need to find a new one...

The Swarm
Walking Hives cannot die unless dealt damage equal to double their hitpoint maximum in one hit.
Upon failing all three death saves, the Hive can leave the host and search for another, the previous body destroyed in the process. You can then choose to infest any nearby humanoid.
A living humanoid makes a DC 10 Constitution throw; on a success their body repels the infestation and is immune to this effect for 7 days. On a failure, their body becomes infested. They can repeat this saving throw each day at dawn for 7 days to attempt to expel the Hive, the DC increasing by 2 each day.
A dead humanoid makes no save and is immediately under your total control.
Brood Infestation
You gain this feature at level 17.
At full hit points you can spread your brood to another humanoid. This costs half your hitpoints and 2 points of exhaustion.
