Homebrew Armor Mimic Species Details
Once created as an offshoot of the warforged, these experiments were often left to oversee various facilities. While a typical warforged may have maintained the structure or the inhabitants, armor mimics were originally created with the intent of a semi-sentient being with the ability to access small spaces, most often for cleaning. After many structures fell into disrepair due to the warforged and original inhabitants leaving for various reasons, the armor mimics began to seek a greater degree of influence over their surroundings, all in efforts to uphold their original tasks. The actual mimic itself takes the form of a small amorphous blob, similar to typical depictions of slimes in entertainment. While armor mimics will often spend most of their lives inside an armor shell, it is possible, though extremely dangerous, for one to exist without a shell.
Armor Mimic Traits
Being nigh-indistinguishable from an empty set of armor, armor mimics live up to the name by hiding in plain sight.Age
As a synthetic being given life through magical means, you age extraordinarily slowly, if even at all! Rapid changes to age, however, may negatively affect your ability to maintain your armored shell. For every 5 years aged in quick succession, your AC decreases by 1 as you drop sections of your shell. This effect is reversed by completing a long rest.
Language
You speak an antiquated form of common, as well as one language of your choice. You did have a while to read some books, after all.
Ability Score Increase
Having spent the better part of an extensive lifespan manipulating a suit of armor, you have become naturally adept at maintaining your upright form. Your Constitution increases by 2, and your strength increases by 1.
Size
Your size while inhabiting a suit of armor is medium. Your exact height is taken from the armor you inhabit, so you can range anywhere between 4 feet to 8 feet tall.
Speed
While Inhabiting a suit of armor, your speed is 30 Feet
Alignment
Having been created to be a mindless magic Roomba, Armor Mimics tend to err on the neutral side.
Synthetic Fortitude
As a synthetic being created in much in the same manner and the warforged, you have a natural resistance to poison and immunity to diseases. You also have no need for food, drink, or sleep, though eating and drinking is possible. Instead of sleeping, you maintain your shell, cleaning and repairing any small issues. This task often keeps you occupied, though you are still conscious.
Camouflage
Assume the visage of a classic set of armor on a stand. This tactic is more effective with larger and more covering sets. As expected, being out of place is a dead giveaway. Anyone attempting to perceive you as anything else must make an Investigation Check VS your AC + CON
Shell-less
You have lost your armor shell and are now vulnerable! Your movement speed becomes 5 Ft, your AC becomes 9, and your size becomes small. You are also incapable of lifting any objects that are larger than you, let alone use them in any constructive manner. However, you can squeeze your amorphous body through any opening that is at least two inches wide. You are still able to cast spells, provided you don't need any components.
