Homebrew Aqualyn Species Details

Appearance

Aqualyn are shaped similarly to humans but have the exceptions of missing ears and noses while also having webbing in between their fingers and toes with claws. They are coloured with different shades of blue to blend in with their water.

Home

Aqualyn migrate a lot from their homes. They prefer to live in cleaner water where they can see and breathe properly with many different underwater species. If one of their waters becomes contaminated, they will begin to migrate to another body of water.

Names

Aqualyn name themselves after the first underwater creature they caught after reaching toddler age.

Ranking System

Aqualyn treat their peers with the names of tougher creatures to catch with more respect because that usually means that they were tougher since a younger age. They also treat ones with more or worse scars with more respect because that means they have been in more action

Most Aqualyn drift towards neutrality and lawfulness, but few drift into evil.

You mature similarly to humans and have a similar lifespan

Size

Aqualyn are usually 5-6 ft but few go to 7 ft. Your size is medium

Speed

You can walk and run normally out of water and your fins help you swim faster in water. Walking speed is 30 ft and Swimming speed is 45 ft

Superior Swimming

If even a bit of you is touching water, you gain advantage on attack, Dexterity and Strength rolls and saving throws.

Darkvision

You can see a dim light as if it were bright light and no light as dim light for 60 ft

Hold Breath

You can hold your breath for 1 hour on land and for as long as you want underwater.

Underwater Communication

You can communicate with any underwater creatures.

Underwater Adaptability

You have proficiency on athletics and deception checks but it's doubled with advantage in water.

Languages

You can speak, read and write a script called Aqualish, Common and one other of your choice.
