Homebrew Cholopean (Slothfolk) Species Details
It is rare to see them in the wide world, but if you do, they are very pleasant to be around.
Size
Cholopeans can vary in size quite a lot, depending mostly on where they hail from. If they grew up in an emerging forest, then they typically only grow to about 4 feet in height, however those from large and mature forests can get to be almost 7 1/2 feet in length.
Cholopean (Slothfolk) Traits
The treetop life of the Cholopean's has made them well suited for an adventurers life, despite how rare it is to see them in that role.Age
Cholopeans typically reach maturity around 20 years of age, and live to be at least 80. It is hard to say what their total lifespan is, because they don't keep track of their age well.
Ability Score Improvement
+ 2 to Wisdom.
The Cholopeans take lots of time to observe the world around them before they act.
+2 to Strength, -2 to Dexterity
A life of climbing in the tree and hanging from branches has caused the Cholopeans to have a surprising amount of muscle growth, at the cost of them being able to quickly react to their surroundings.
Treetop Lifestyle
The Cholopeans are well adapted to life in the treetops, and as such have a natural climbing speed.
Gain a climbing speed equal to your movement speed.
While climbing, you prefer to hang upside down whenever possible, and do not suffer any drawbacks from hanging upsidedown.
Natural Weapons
Your long climbing claw give you the ability to strike out at attackers who approach you.
You gain an unarmed attack that deals damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength modifier.
When you make this unarmed attack, your attack range becomes 10 feet, however you can only attack in this manner once per turn.
Slow Metabolism
Due to the slow and peaceful life Cholopeans lead, they do not need to eat or drink as often as other species. This does have its drawbacks however, as they also need to sleep longer each day.
You can go 2 days without eating or drinking without suffering the effects of exhaustion.
You must sleep at least 12 hours to gain the benefits of a long rest, and 3 hours to gain the benefit of a short rest. Due to your slow lifestyle you can also rest while traveling at a slow pace.
Natural Camoflague
Because of the Cholopeans naturally slow lifestyle, they have learned to grow plants and mosses into their fur.
Choose a terrain. Plants native to that terrain grow into your fur. While you are within your terrain of choice, you gain a +5 to stealth while climbing or remaining motionless.
