Homebrew Vampire Revised Species Details

A Vampires is a unnatural creature that subsists by feeding on the vital essence (generally in the form of blood) of the living. In European folklore, vampires are undead creatures that often visited loved ones and caused mischief or deaths in the neighbourhoods they inhabited while they were alive. In general, vampires hunt at night since sunlight weakens their powers. Some may have the ability to morph into a bat or a wolf. Vampires have super strength and often have a hypnotic, sensual effect on their victims. They can’t see their image in a mirror and cast no shadows.

Vampire Revised Traits

Vampires are hunters of the night and have certain aspects that both aid and hinder them in their goals, your vampire character has these traits nonetheless.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet, and have a climbing speed of 15 feet. You can scale walls and ceilings without issue.

Darkvision

Accustomed as a creature of the night, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Once per Long Rest, you can surge your vampiric powers for 1 minute as a bonus action. During that minute, you gain advantage in Strength, Dexterity, and Consitution based checks and saving throws.

Vampiric Body

As a vampire, you're vulnerable to attacks from piercing weapons made of wood being driven into your heart. However, you are also immune to all disease and resistant to necrotic damage.

Bloodlust

As a young vampire, you don't eat, but instead need to drink blood. You can go 3 days without drinking blood before you gain a level of Exhaustion for each day you go without blood. The blood must be directly from a living creature.

Your bites are considered Melee weapon attacks of which you are proficient. They do 2d4 piercing damage and allow you to drain blood someone's blood. This doesn't work on bloodless beings like Constructs and Undead. You can roll a number of d8's equal to half your Player Level (rounded up) and heal that amount of health.

You can do the bite any amount of times, but you can only drain blood a number of times per Long Rest equal to your Constitution modifier (Minimun 1).

For example, if you're a Rogue at level 5, so you can roll 3d8 and heal that amount everytime you successfully bite someone. If your Consitution Modifier is 3, then they can do it 3 times before needing to take a long rest.

Sunlight Sensitivity

As a young vampire, sunlight doesn't kill you, but it does weaken you. While in direct sunlight, you have disadvantage on all saving throws and all Wisdom checks.
