Homebrew Celestial Guardian Species Details

Worlds hold many wonders within. It is her sword duty to guard those wonders and ensure outside darkness cannot swallow them. As she gazes out at the earth below her as her large bat wings glide her through the twilight sky, she ponders her next adventure. What will her future hold? What stories will be told in the aftermath? These are things all Guardians think about. Even her wolf Guardian friend looks to the future with her single eye and hopes for the sun to rise again.— Terra Batriss, Celestial Guardian of Shadows

Throughout millennia, Guardians have followed their duties and have protected creation without the need for payment. It has always been their nature to aid the light, and sometimes the dark, of each wonderful universe that floats in the void.

A Broad Spectrum

Since Celestial Guardians all originate from the center of the void, they see no need for hibernation or migration. All attributes of the species solely depend on their animal counterparts like their diet and instincts. Simple as they are, they also have the ability to naturally summon what they call a Soul Weapon. This is a weapon selected by their soul that will never break and can never be misplaced. It will follow its holder's command and appear when the user wills it.

Variety in All Things

Guardians are curious and protective creatures by nature. Their craving for adventure overrides all other desires and they are typically always up for a good journey or battle.

EVERYONE’S SECOND-BEST FRIENDS

Sociable and usually excited to meet new friends and encounter new experiences, Guardians are ok with all that exists with little to no care for specific races. Especially considering some of them may have attributes relating to creatures other than humans and their animal counterparts.

Dwarves. “Small, hardworking, adorable, and tough. True to their every word and easy to trust.”

Elves. “These are kind of sketchy and can fool you easily. Don't tell them your name, accept their food, or get into any debt with them. It will not end well. They are beautiful and can e caring so long as you pay them no harm and share in their festive yet calm spirits. Trustworthy when your on their good side.”

Halflings. “Hehe tiny human! More like hobbits, try to request you all eat outside or else risk hitting your head on their homes ceiling each time you try to stand up straight..”

Humans. "Yeah... Depends on the erra. Humans can be unpredictable and not very accepting of the odd. Finicky, but easy to communicate with and easy to convince or cast memory removal spells on. Good friends, but hard to find when more than half their population is typically hostile and generally not easy to get along with."

Lasting Institutions

Traditions and education are very important to Guardians. Once a year. they will hold what is known as Guardian Games. These games present a series of randomized events in which each participating Guardian can increase their reputation amongst their kind and obtain entertainment simply by competing in these wild games. They also give thanks to all deities that create the worlds they explore quite often. Usually, before they eat, when a new soul is born and they are informed of it, or when a soul passes on.

They do have schools for the younger Guardians and bear many occupations within their community with the main job being the protection of the worlds within the Void.

Guardian Names

Being creatures that enjoy adventures and traveling, the names they give to their children are usually reminiscent of someone they met on an adventure or the name represents the parents favorite experience. There is no true limit to the names.

Celestial Guardian Traits

It’s hard to make generalizations about Celestial Guardians, but your character has a Soul Weapon (see description under title A Broad Spectrum). They are all capable of magic of any and all sorts and are only limited by their animal attributes.

Soul Weapon

A Soul Weapon is a weapon that is selected by the wielders soul. The weapon can be anything of the players choice but once you decide you are not allowed to change it as that weapon is now the characters iconic weapon. It can be any weapon so long as your class is proficient in it. The weapon can be summoned at will and will follow all commands the wielder orders.

You can also use the weapon to cast an elemental buff to it and give it that element's damage properties.

Keep in mind that only the wielder can use it. In the hands of another creature, it is much too heavy to use. In the hands of another Guardian, however, the weapon will act as a normal weapon and magic cannot flow through it.

Bilingual Language

You can speak, read, and write Common and 3 extra languages of your choice. Guardians typically learn the languages of the other cultures they deal with, including obscure dialects. They are fond of sprinkling their speech with words borrowed from other tongues: Orc curses, Elvish musical expressions, Dwarvish military phrases, etc.
